Kick Off 2014 with a Run

Would anything more be expected from a runner and her triathlon loving hubby but a run to shake out all those toxins we exposed ourselves to the last day of 2013?  Of course not, so we ran a simple, fun 5K the first day of the new year.  The Seventh Annual 5K Prediction Run hosted by the Grand Strand Runners. The Prediction Run started at 10 AM.  That gave all New Years Eve celebrants time to sleep in, go through the late night recovery routine and get in the mood for a run.  These are the details for a Prediction [...]

Turning Stone 5K Run

It was the first race held at The Turning Stone Casino Resort in Vernon, New York.  The run was a 5K.  It wasn’t the usual fast and furious 5K crowd I’m used to seeing at local races.  In fact, when we were lining up at the starting line, no one seemed to want to be in front.  It was kind of amusing.  But – lets back track… The bike ride to the event: The race time was changed from 5 pm to 6 pm. This forced us to change our cycle route because if we took off from home there [...]

Honor America Days 5K Run

From my facebook page “Running this 5K ‘cause I don’t want to do a long run” That was my mood today.  That was my mood all last week. I was in a slump.  I ran 6 .6 on Tuesday, 5 miles on Friday and then a 5K road race Saturday.  I had 16 miles scheduled for today but the 5K sounded so much more appealing.  Besides, I was mad at the world all week.  I run pretty good when I’m mad.  Here’s the proof…. Roman Runners Honor America Days 5K Run It was my excuse to duck out of a [...]

Hangover Run 2011 A New Year

First, a little superstition to pass along:   Don’t do laundry on New Years Day. You could wash someone right out of the family. Our washing machine is taped up for “safety” reasons. Now for the Hangover run.  It was a 5K for Ted and a 10K for me. No great times were logged but it was a super winter day for running. 45 degrees and no wind. YahOOOO! Shane and I did our 2 mile warm up. Ted and I left for Barneveld at 9 am.  Race start was 10 am.  It was a very friendly casual run, out and [...]

Run for Hunger 5K and Simply Fruit

It didn’t seem like Thanksgiving.  Got up at 6:45 and went for a 2 mile warm up run with Shane.  The road was quiet, no cars. It was cold.  I ran 1 1/2 miles before it finally dawned on me that it was a holiday.  At 9 o’clock I would be doing a 5K run, the Run for Hunger.  Ted and Teddy were running the race with me.  I left the house at 8 am to jog to the Parkway Ski Chalet and register for the run. Ted drove and brought our four food item donation plus a mere $5.00 [...]

The 5K Nate Run Recap

Shane woke both Ted and I up at 5:20 am.  This would normally not be a problem but we got home late after having such great time at the wedding.  Natured called but we think mostly, Shane wanted to play.  Ted was up to tend to beasty boy and I got up to dilly-dally & blog before taking Shane for a 2 mile warm up before my race. 6 am:  Banana with 1 TBS peanut butter.  My stomach was a little over active this morning.  I’m sure that was due to “wedding food” which was not my usual pre-run meal.  [...]
