Based on the recipe for Razz-Ma-Tazz Bars by Nestle, what’s not to love?!

But first something important:  New York State Alert System, found at nyalert.gov.  It’s free and customizable.  The site offers various alerts from weather to amber alerts. On the left hand side, there is a location to sign up for alerts that matter most to you.

It’s a bit scary since there are relocation alerts for sex offenders.   What an eye opener to learn how close to home so many of them live.  Needless to say, Shane has accompanied me once again on those early morning runs.

Do you have an alert system in your state?   Have you/would you sign up for particular alerts?

Strawberry WOW Bars.  Why WOW?  Wonderful.  Obsessive.  Winning.

Makes 16 to 24 servings

If you don’t like strawberry, try another flavor.  Lemon would be AWESOME!

  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 12 oz of white chocolate (or buy 1 bag of white chocolate chips)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chip morsels
  • 2/3 cup sugar free strawberry jam
  • 1/4 cup toasted sliced almonds

Preheat oven to 325 F.  Spray a 9” square pan with non stick cooking spray.

In a saucepan, melt the white chocolate with the butter over low heat. Watch carefully and stir so you don’t burn the bottom.

Beat eggs in a large bowl. Add the sugar and beat until light in color.  Stir in the melted chocolate mixture.  Add flour, salt and extract and beat another minute.

Spread 2/3 in a prepared pan and bake for 17 minutes.

Heat the jam in the microwave for 30 seconds, stir then pour over and spread over the baked crust.

Stir the mini chips into the remaining white chocolate mixture then drop onto the crust, on top of the jam. Spread evenly.   Top with toasted almonds.

Bake for 28 – 30 minutes. Allow to cool completely before cutting.

Out of all the holiday baking I’ve done, these rank right near the top. So good and so pretty.
