No running this morning. It was –3 …brrrrr…. This morning was a perfect day to work the legs in a different way: weights. And after 25 minutes in the gym, the dogs wanted to go out AGAIN! We took a walk and called it a day.
Getting ready for the holiday and baking something super easy, super fast, super delicious to add to the Christmas cookie tray!
The Rolo Pretzel Delight from Hershey, recipe found right on the back of a bag of Rolo’s. Imagine how surprised I was when I sat there eating Rolo’s and discovered a diet saving recipe on the back of the bag. Diet saving?! Yes, it was. It saved my diet because I would have eaten twice as many if I hadn’t seen the recipe and wanted to save the candy in order to make the treats. Thank you, Hershey.
The ingredients:
- Small pretzel twists
- Rolo Chewy Caramels *You can also use the mini Snickers bites.
- Pecan halves or other favorite nuts.
Simply preheat the oven to 350 F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Place pretzel twists on baking tray and top with a Rolo or other chocolate candy.
Put into the oven and bake for 3- 5 minutes just until soft but not melted.
Remove and top with a nut.
After I ran out of Rolos and Snicker Bites, I experimented with chocolate chips. They didn’t melt as easily as the candy but enough to hold a nut after being heated AND they weren’t as sweet. Didn’t look as good but it turned out to be my favorite.
Other nuts…
They all come together for a cute, sweet, delicious treat.
Challenge Question: What’s your favorite 3 ingredient treat?
We make treats similar to these. But we use the square butter pretzels, put a caramel kiss on top, and another pretzel on top, like a sandwich. They’re always a hit! (but very sweet)
Ha, ha: diet saving! Easy recipes like this are great during the holidays!
Is it really, really wrong to say I love sugar, butter, and vanilla? Ha!!
I can’t say I’ve ever made that as a treat before but I have been known to steal a bit when I’m making cookie dough.
Your rolo cookies look so super easy!
