Ever heard of National Can It Forward Day?  It was a new one on me as well until I was sent a complete canning kit.

I couldn’t believe all the recipes offered in the book.  The following recipe is one on my A list.  We absolutely love bananas and strawberries.

Want to know more about canning/preserving?  National Can-It-Forward Day lets everyone share the joy of fresh preserving. If you love garden fresh produce, watch some of the demos to see how easy it is to preserve and to enjoy throughout the year. Whether you’re new to canning or a Master Canner, recipes, tips and tricks are presented to help make fresh preserving easy and fun!  SOURCE

On Saturday, July 14th, Jarden Home Brands, the makers of Ball® brand fresh preserving products, and the Minnetrista Master Preservers will demonstrate just how easy it is to preserve fresh produce for delicious results. And, chefs from the American Culinary Federation will share their recipes using these preserved products.

New and exciting this year is the Ball® FreshTECH Automatic Jam & Jelly Maker. Watch as it transforms fresh fruit, sugar and pectin into mouthwatering homemade jam. This small kitchen appliance allows you to enjoy homemade jam or jelly in just 30 minutes.

Oh! I have always wanted to try it but have NEVER done it. I know it’s a matter of education. I even have a garden. Maybe this year I’ll do a small batch of something. Thanks for sharing.

It would be totally predictable and ridiculously boring if I said my favorite thing to can was peaches right?

Actually, we’ve only ever canned peaches once. We’ve done many batches of strawberry and raspberry preserves though. I think my favorite is my mother’s strawberry freezer jam – that stuff is amazing!

Wow! I’ve never tried canning but I can remember my granny’s tasty jams, I wish I could have make my own… this kit looks pretty cool, I think I should give it a try!
