Here we go again, getting ourselves in a mess.
We’ve had to rip up the old Italian marble (can you hear me crying?!!! )
and we are putting in some new marble. I loved our old floor but the grout was messed up, some tiles were broken, cracked and loose. It was time to update the house. Now we’re in a mess for a week. I can’t stand the house in an upset.
SPEAKING of upset! I came home from work to find Ted inhaling yet ANOTHER one of my favorite new protein shakes!
He was just sitting there, outside, enjoying the beautiful end of day, nibbling on some nuts and INHALING the Arbonne shake. Both of us love the healthy, chocolate flavor. It’s light but rewardingly filling and satisfying. Here’s the best part:
Arbonne Essentials are formulated without gluten and have:
• NO artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners
• NO cholesterol, saturated fats or trans
• NO animal products
Arbonne health-oriented products are pure, safe, and beneficial. They are organically certified, organically cultivated, non-GMO, gluten-free, and formulated without parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, mineral oil, PABA, petrolatum, paraffin, diethanolamine, and are 100% vegan.
Speaking of nutrition and fitness (were we?), if you aren’t a member of SparkPeople, you probably didn’t see this.
SparkPeople’s Tip of the Day came out with this Fitness To-Do list. How do you rank?
Fitness To-Do’s
Once you’ve committed to getting in shape, there are several things you can do to ensure you’ll exceed your short and long term fitness goals.
- Write down your fitness goals. You’re more likely to stick with a program when you have set specific goals. APPLECRUMBLES – my only written commitments are posted on my blog.
- Always eat a well-balanced diet that includes ample servings of vegetables and fruit. APPLECRUMBLES – veggies and fruits are my mainstay.
- Assess your current fitness level before starting an exercise program. You’ll be able to establish goals that meet your specific fitness needs. APPLECRUMBLES – Bad me! I never assess. I jump right in.
- Talk to your health care provider before embarking on a fitness program, particularly if you are struggling with a health condition such as diabetes or obesity. APPLECRUMBLES – Another BAD, BAD me! I feel great, don’t see doctors. *Hope that doesn’t come back to haunt me, bite me, goose me, whatever!
- Always stretch before and after your exercise routine. Make sure your muscles are warm first! APPLECRUMBLES – Whoops. Not doing well, am I?!!!
- Don’t over do it! Slowly increase the intensity of your workouts. APPLECRUMES – YAY! I can say YES, I am careful and increase intensity gradually.
- Diversify your workout routine. If you do the same exercises day after day, you’ll quickly tire and may hit a plateau. APPLECRUMBLES – Ever changing. I get bored quickly.
- Work out with a friend. You’ll help motivate each other. APPLECRUMBLES – Calling all friends. Help motivate me! I promise I’ll do the same back.
AND FINALLY, FOOD!
I’ve made something similar to the following recipe for portabella mushrooms. It was called “Sunnyside Stuffed Portabellas”.
The recipe in this post is a bit easier but no less tasty.
Serves 4
- 4 large portabella mushroom caps, peeled and de-gilled. Wipe out where you removed the gills
- Olivio Buttery Spray (or use olive oil)
- Salt and pepper
- 20 oz Vegetarian Baked Beans –drain lightly
- 1/2 cup reduced fat cheddar cheese
- 4 Jumbo eggs
Preheat oven to 400 F.
Spray (or brush) both sides of the mushrooms with Olivio or oil.
Pour beans evenly into each mushroom cap. Top with cheese (divided evenly on each mushroom).
Make indent in the middle of each filled mushroom.
Crack in the egg. Sprinkle with salt and FRRREEESSHHH Black PEPPA…
Spray with more Olivio.
Bake for 30 – 35 minutes.
Enjoy with your favorite vegetable.
A super way to enjoy a gluten free, complete nutrition meal.
A few questions for you, nothing too taxing, after all, you worked hard and don’t need any extra challenges…
1. What’s your favorite brand of health care product? It can be cosmetics, creams, hair care, supplements… just tell me some of your favorite brands.
2. How did you rank on the Fit To Do list? A? B? C? or D?
3. What’s your favorite way to eat LARGE portabella mushrooms? or don’t you eat ‘shrooms?
i hope the floor work goes smoothly and everything is back-in-order soon! i know i hate feeling dishevled with house projects. i am sure it will look beautiful in the end!
those mushrooms look good – my doc just made me go gluten free (not for forever, most likely) but i don’t really like mushrooms… but maybe i could try this recipe with eggplant, maybe a slice of zucchini?
So far, and only one day into it, we’ve hit glitches 1. The guy can’t lay the new floor down, he’s behind with his other job and 2. The truck that was suppose to haul the crap away has a flat tire. This is just SO much fun!
Those mushrooms look awesome. I often top a broiled poortabella cap with creamy scrambled eggs, but this is even better – a meal for any tim eof day! And the combo of slightly runny yolk, benas and mushroom is making my mouth water.
It’s a quick and nutritious meal that always works in a pinch. 🙂
I love home improvement stuff, so I don’t mind seeing things in disarray as long as there is progress being made (and it doesn’t take forever). Of course, we do almost all of the work ourselves, which helps. That’s motivation to get it done 😀
hope it goes well
I love portabello mushroom any time . I can say by the picture that this would a great dish to enjoy. I hope your floor gets fixed soon 🙂
Hi,
Sorry to hear your misadventures with the marble 🙁
I like your fitness check list – I accomplish most of them, yay!
The portabella mushrooms are very tempting Joanne 🙂
Cheers,
