In fact, after one bite, I had another, then another.  By the time I was ready to take photos, I had eaten too many and couldn’t split one to show you the moist rich chocolate center filled with nuts and raisins. Oh well. You’ll just have to make these yourself. Be careful. This will do serious damage to your diet (but it’s worth it).

Italian Meatball Cookies (the frosting is like the sauce on the meatball – cute!) *Makes a LOT of cookies. I split the recipe and got 4 dozen.

  • 8 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups cocoa
  • 1 TBS baking soda
  • 1 TBS nutmeg
  • 2 TBS cinnamon
  • 1 TBS cloves
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cup milk
  • 4 sticks oleo (butter or lard)
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 F.  Mix the dry ingredients together:  Flour, sugar, cocoa, soda, spices.

Put the egg in a cup and pour the milk over it to make 2 cups Melt the oleo (butter or whatever you’re using).   Mix well with the dry ingredients.

Add the raisins and nuts.  Mix well and roll into 3/4 inch to 1 inch balls.  Bake for 8 – 10 minutes. Do not over bake.  9 minutes to be safe.

Chocolate Fudge Frosting (aka SAUCE!)

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup shortening (butter)
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Bring water to a boil, remove from heat and stir in shortening and corn syrup.  Add the sugar, cocoa, salt and vanilla.  Mix completely until smooth.

Dip the cooled cookies into the frosting.

Don’t eat too many!  There won’t be any left for the cookie tray.
