Speaking of Yoga…Yogi…
Remember a couple of weeks ago I thought a cold was coming on. It lasted about a day with a scratchy throat that lasted a little longer. The best care for a troublesome throat is Yogi Tea: Honey Lemon.
Give me coffee over tea any day but when I’m not up to snuff, it’s hot tea all the way.
Yogi Tea even has a Green Tea for Muscle Recovery. I better get some of that!
Time for visitors….
Look who came back for a visit while I made my tea…
It’s the deer family: Ma and three kids. She’s a busy lady.
Salmon en vertu de Yogurt
That’s the best of my French. It sounded so much better in French than English …..“Salmon Under Yogurt” vs “Salmon en vertu de Yogurt”???? Don’t you agree?
- 1 large salmon steak, 1 lbs.
- 1/4 cup Non Fat Plain Greek Style yogurt
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro (if you don’t like cilantro, use Italian parsley for a milder flavor), chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- Juice and zest of 1/2 a small lime
- 2 TBS grated Asiago cheese (I used Parmesan but it needed a little more so I recommend Asiago cheese)
- Salt and pepper to taste.
Preheat the grill on high heat.
Mix the yogurt, cilantro/parsley, garlic, ginger, cumin, paprika, lime, and cheese together.
Prepare a piece of aluminum foil by making a few holes in it. Place the salmon, skin side down on the foil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper the spread the yogurt sauce on the salmon.
Cook on the foil and on the pre-heated grill (medium high heat) for about 6 minutes, skin side down then turn so the topping is on the foil and continue cooking another 7 minutes or until salmon is cooked through.
Make sure you use the freshest salmon you can find. If not, you’ll find this dish will lack flavor.
Don’t over cook it. Ted grilled it one minute too many for his liking. I would prefer my fish over done rather than under done so it was fine for me. If I put fish in my mouth that is the least bit under cooked, it puts me off my entire dinner.
ENJOY!
Joanne
I try to practice yoga at least once a week, but would love to do more and i really, really want the set too 🙂 Yoga has done some amazing things for me and would love to keep building

I really, really want it!! I’ve recently gotten into pilates and I’ve been looking for the opportunity to try yoga. Wouldn’t this be perfect!
What timing – I have just been introduced to yoga and hope to win this give away. And when I try something, I jump right in…spent last weekend at Kripalu in the Berkshires. Was planning on emailing you about it because you and your husband would LOVE it there. Fabulous classes but more importantly amazing fresh vegetarian meals.

Joanne, your salmon looks delicious…and that yoga set sounds amazing! I use to practice but I’ve gotten out of the habit. It’s times like these that I realize I need it! Thank you for sharing, and I’m sorry if I’ve been a bit sparse here lately…we are going through such a trial. Thank you for all your kind words on my own blog. They mean a lot!
I have tweeted your giveway even thought I don’t know can I poarticipate since I live quite far 😀
I practice power yoga- I don’t know what the term is called for it, but I’ve been doing it for about 3 years. Why I really want this> I can’t get out to the classes as much as I want to anymore bc I have 2 kids! I love how I could do this at home! Thanks!
I tweeted here http://twitter.com/tosha25italia
I have done a lot of hatha and power yoga DVDs in the past. I live in the middle of nowhere so I really can’t go to classes. I am currently sick to death of all of my DVDs, so I’ve just been doing sun salutations on my own and calling that good. That’s why I really need these DVDs!
I have always wanted to learn the techniques of yoga, and my this is the perfect giveaway! I am going to tweet and facebook this one! great job Joanne…. and Salmon is my favorite can eat it everyday anyway its made!
I’ve not done yoga, really, but I’d love this to start out!
Hi, Joanne: I have been practicing Vinyassa yoga for several months. I love it! This would be an awesome giveaway to win. Thanks for the opportunity.
I have been going to yoga more frequently the past 3 months or so. I go to HOT yoga once a week on Friday. It helps me relax and stretch my crazy tight hips and hamstrings!

Your giveaway is also posted in my blog tomorrow morning 🙂
Joanne,
Thanks so much for your sweet Anniversary message this week. 🙂 As much as I’d love to take up (and be proficient at) yoga, my attempts have been less than stellar, and just downright funny. Oh well. *sigh*
I do, however, appreciate the hot tea recommendation. I agree: coffee all the way, but when feeling icky, hot tea does the trick. Have been sick a lot the last 6 weeks or so; tea for sure!
As for the salmon: love it! I make something similar with a full-bodied mayo for the base and spices added. I found it in a diabetic cookbook a few yrs ago. Under the broiler, the mayo sauce blackens. Very tasty dish! Would like to try your version… as always, looks amazing! Thought I saw capers, and went back to reread ingredients. Think I might want to tweak a bit. Oh, and had to laugh ~ I also prefer my fish overcooked, too. Folks at restaurants (especially ‘uppity’ ones) usually smirk at me when I make that request. Whatever.
Happy Halloween! Loved your visitor pic. Beautiful, and so peaceful.
*hugs* from Orlando
I made a pact a few months ago to practice yoga once a week…but then failed! I think it’s because the DVD I have isn’t for me. I’d love to begin a more consistent practice. And that salmon looks delicious!!

I have practiced Ashtanga, Yin, Hatha, and Vinyasa I love Yin and Vinyasa. I like Ashtanga but it becomes too repetitive for me to hold my interest. I didn’t like Hatha, but I think that had more to do with the teacher than anything else.
Yay for the giveaway!!
I tweeted it – how was I not already following you on Twitter?!?!
I shared it on Facebook. 😀
I would LOVE to be your winner! I don’t know what ‘kind’ of yoga I practice. I have several DVD’s that I use and I also have been to a yoga seminar on yoga nidra. I have scoliosis that is moderately severe in my lower back and practicing yoga and massages seem to be the only things that give me true relief. *Pretty please, pick me.*
[…] but not least go and check Joanne’s awesome yoga giveaway! Tags: artichoke, beets, cucumber, falafel, garlic, mint, natural yogurt, pepper, pickled onion, […]
I practice 4-6 days a week, depending on how my other race training allows/time in the season … and I’ve been a passionate student for over 10 years. I try to explore as many forms of yoga as possible, especially when I travel – yoga on the Great Wall was AHhhhhh-mazing! I find Forest yoga to be fantastically challenging and invigorating, and I adore Vinyasa flow .. but my current obsession is Kalari based on how powerful and fluid it makes me feel (originated as the base of an Indian martial artform): http://gnyanamantapamacademy.org/mylife_Yoga/en/Kalari_Yoga.html
HUGELY recommend it to all ….. and eagerly request an entry in to your contest!
Namaste!

I practiced yoga for about 6 months and loved it (it was a beginner course and I’m not sure what type of yoga it was). Then I moved to a different city and I haven’t found a new studio yet. I really miss it, so I would love to use these DVDs as a way for me to get back into yoga!
I go to class once a week and also try to practice around 3x a week at home. I do either power or flow type…..my class is based alot on Ashtanga.
Such a great giveaway!
I have dabbled in yoga a few times before with videos from the library but the selection was quite sad. After hearing so many people talk about how much they love yoga and its benefits as a stress-reducer, I would really like to find a program I enjoy and would stick to.
The salmon looks great, and I agree with you about the title and overcooked fish 🙂
