Will bike for food!  That is my motto. I will ride the bike on Sunday morning as long as we can stop for breakfast.  I will ride the bike on Thursday night as long as we can go out to dinner.  At least I go!

Last nights ride was fun. It actually started WAY too slow (different leader).   A little before the half way point, the pace picked up a bit.  The gravel road was more packed this week, not as scary.  There was  a bug that flew into my helmet. That freaked me out and I had to stop, shake my hair out, try to remain calm why the leader looked on.  I felt all creepy-crawly but soon forgot about it as we tackled the worst hill of the ride.  PHEW! Made it!

The result was a good ride, 27.73 miles at about 14 mph and then food at Delmonico’s.

I had frutti de mare but the salmon I’ve had in the past was so much better.

I enjoyed the MacMurray Pinot Noir but Ted kept saying it wasn’t doing anything for him.  He usually really enjoys MacMurray.

The usual colorful salad with delicious hot bread and we indulged ourselves with the calamari appetizer.  A texture “thing” started going off in my head after a few bites of calamari.  My stomach started saying …”NO MORE!”

Sometimes I can enjoy calamari and sometimes I can’t. Thursday night, I couldn’t.

The frutti de mar was so-so.  I had it over steamed broccoli instead of pasta.  There were two shrimp. Wish there were more. Four clams. Could have had more of those as well.  Calamari which, at that point, I could have done without. The fish was buried way down deep.  After the 2 shrimp, 4 clams and some broccoli, I called it quits, wrapped the fish up and Shane had it added to his late night dinner. He just loves it when we go out to eat!

Next week, we will have to stop elsewhere for dinner. Delmonico’s needs a break.

LEMON LUSCIOUS CAKE

Some people are just crazy over the taste of lemon.  Jill’s sister is a lemon lover.  So is Ted for that matter.  It was tricky making a lemon cake and keeping Ted away from the kitchen.

The cake was lemon flavored with a vanilla-lemon wash.

The filling was a base of lemon curd topped with lemon mousse.

The frosting was a delicate lemon-butter cream.

Finished with gum paste roses of yellow and red.
