An Announcement!   Ted and I received ONE YEAR’S WORTH OF EGGLAND’S BEST EGGS!  YAY!   Apparently Foodbuzz, through the Eggland’s Best Tastemaker program liked my recipe. I just wish I could remember which recipe it was since I always use Eggland’s Eggs??? Oh well – when I figure it out, I’ll let you know.  In the meantime, YAY FOODBUZZ! YAY EGGLAND’S !

What a beautiful morning for a run.  On schedule was a 12 to 14 miler.  I ran 13.3 miles.  9.46 miles I had my running partner, Shane, with me.  I was contemplating taking him 10 to 12 but when I stopped to give him water at 8.7, he laid down on the grass. That was my signal to take him home.  You see, we ran a more challenging route than last week.  We went up the HUGE hill on Sherman Drive.  Then up another HUGE hill on Tilden.  Granted from there it was down hill to Oneida Street but those 2 inclines were steep enough to suck the energy from us for a while.

The hardest running chore for me is to make a stop at home and then go out again.  I dread going out that door for more running. But a goal is a goal and today it was at least 12 miles.   So I dropped Shane off and went out again around Proctor Parks and around the inner quad of the college.  I love college campuses.  I love the smell and the atmosphere.  Maybe that’s because my college days were so enjoyable.

The wind picked up and kept holding me back.  I was wondering if these windy days would ever end?!  I can’t stand running in the wind. It’s hard and it’s creepy.  Things fly at you.  You think you can hear things chasing you.  The wind is NOT my friend – physically nor mentally.

Quick Summary of Run:  good run. took E-Drenaline at 6.4 miles. Water stops at 3.5, 6.4, 8.7.  At 9.75, I took 3/4 of a GU (GAG!).  At 11 miles, I kept looking at the Garmin.  At 12.5, I decided to take a longer route home so I could get a full 13 + miles in.  The wind was REALLY annoying at this point.  At 13.29, I was SO HAPPY to be turning into our driveway.

Last night at UNO’S:

Ted played some afternoon golf yesterday and that seems to always put him in the mood for casual dining.  We decided on Uno’s.  It was good when I went the other week with Stef and Sue so I was up for it again.

The restaurant offers a fun atmosphere and UNBELIEVABLY friendly service.

We began the night with a Hess Monterey Chardonnay for me.  It offered tropical fruitiness but was a bit light for a chard.  Ted had the Margarita De Su Casa.  A mixture of Sauza Gold Tequila, Cointreau and lemon sour.  His Margarita was also very light, almost like a watered down taste.

In looking over the menu, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Uno’s offers a special GLUTEN FREE menu

Although I didn’t opt for any of these choices, it’s great to know that the restaurant recognizes and offers Gluten Free options.

I had a delicious sounding fish combo:

I opted for the rice but had a side salad instead of the steamed veggies (easy on the fiber in anticipation of running the next day).

Ted had a huge Mediterranean shrimp salad and then the beef sliders for dinner. He was starving and had eaten half his salad by the time I thought about photographing it. But I did get a pic of the sliders before they “slid” down his throat.

The food was so-so. My fish was a little dry. The rice with dried cranberries was very good. The salad was crisp and fresh.  Ted enjoyed his Mediterranean salad and said the sliders were ok but the sauce was a bit too spicy for him.

The coffee smelled strong but was nicely balanced and not too acidic.  It was a good finish to the meal.

As we drove out of the Orchard, the sky presented itself in all it’s glory

The pink WAS that pink and the blue was the perfect sky blue.

We went to Blockbuster and picked up the dvd,  “Edge of Darkness” with Mel Gibson.  I would offer a review but unfortunately my eyes were shut and the mind left for slumber-dom within 15 minutes of the beginning of the movie.  Oh well….it was a rough week.

What’s your favorite:  Sunrise? or Sunset?
