This morning’s run started out not so great. We ran around the college then I had to come back home to change my jacket (to hot) and settle my stomach.  We took off again and ran toward the golf course, Valley View.   I took Shane onto the grass and we ran along the fairways so he could run lose. We both like being free of each other once and a while.

We didn’t go into the switchbacks because I could see there was still snow on the pathway but we did venture up to the eagle.  There was snow and ice in spots but nothing we couldn’t slow down and get around.

When we run up to the eagle,we are in the back yard of the Utica Zoo.  It must have been feeding time because there was quite the commotion going on .  Really loud, eerie noises.  If it had been dark out, I could have set a record for the fastest run down from the eagle in history.  Spoooooky!

The weather was good, no wind and about 40 degrees.  Can you believe Ted and Sam are playing golf this morning?!   While 40 is a great running temperature, I’m not so sure it’s comfortable for golf.  The sun should come out and it will get warmer for them. Hopefully.

The run was good once I found my pace.  We ran 8 miles today.

Restaurant Review: Michael T’s Seneca Turnpike, New Hartford.

Michael T’s is a family style restaurant.  The menu offers an array of choices for both young and old. The prices are set to please Utica area residents.   Michael T’s has been a popular establishment for many, many years.

An unassuming outside with a warm and welcoming atmosphere inside.   The bar fits the room and offers standard liquors, beers, and wines.

My glass of Cabernet and Ted’s Blue.

We met Sue and Sam for a very enjoyable meal.  As usual when in their company there are so many laughs and discussions of memories and great things to come.   It’s so nice to have your sister and her hubby as your best friends.

Michael T’s offers a Lenten Menu this  time of year:

We can’t refuse greens and since they were Lenten, we ordered the full portion for the table.  I did double check with the waitress and this is what and how I asked:  “The Lenten Greens ARE MEATLESS, right?!  She assured me they were completely meat free.  After last weeks experience, I just had to make sure.

They were a bit too over done with bread crumbs so the result was a drier tasting green. There was plenty of peppery spice.  Ted said they weren’t his favorite but I enjoyed them.

I didn’t like that they had chunks of potato.

Our salads were the standard iceberg with few other additions.  Oil and vinegar with crumbly bleu:

The basket of bread could have fed 6. It was a long, sliced loaf.  It wasn’t warm but it hit my bread craving spot.  Standard Italian.

For dinner, I had the broiled fish platter which was very good. I asked for very little butter – wine sauce. There was nothing outstanding about the taste but the fish, scallops, shrimp were all cooked just right.  Broccoli on the side.

The rest of the table all had the fish fry.  Everyone was pleased with their dish.  Ted had a side of fries, Sue had a side baked potato and Sam had a HUGE meatball over angel hair pasta.

When dining with Sue and Sam, there has to be dessert.  The Oreo cheesecake came to the table for the finale

We tried plenty of food from the menu, as you can see. We can rightfully say that Michael T’s is a restaurant for a good meal, reasonable prices, it’s clean, and there is a menu choice for everyone in the family.

Have you dined at Michael T’s?  What was your experience like?

Movie Review:

DSC00747

Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker star in this somewhat funny movie.  It was a bit slow and had it’s laughable moments.  Hugh Grant seemed a bit “whiney” to me in the movie.  It was about a separated couple and the husband, Hugh, wanted to get back together. Due to his infidelity (Hello Tiger!), she was reluctant and could never trust him again.  Because of unforeseen circumstances, they were thrown together in a situation which made them realize there was still love between them.

Cute movie. Ted fell asleep but I watched all 103 minutes.  Maybe more of a chick flick.

Have you seen it? What did you think?

It’s Saturday and there is groceries, baking, and cleaning to do. We are out with friends tonight for another enjoyable evening. Not so sure about the food, but I’ll let you know tomorrow. Have a super Saturday.
