How do you make your hot cereal?

I found something fun to do with a Cranberry Twist flavored Green Tea I bought from Timothy’s.  It is a Keurig K-Cup and it packs a wallop of fruit flavor  Since it is so strong, I thought it would be a great way to add cranberry essence to my oatmeal:  use the flavored brewed tea instead of water.

oatmeal1The key here is to choose your favorite flavored tea and make your oatmeal with it.  Do a taste test to see if you really need to add any sweetener or other flavors.  I usually only need a few raisins or craisins as a natural sweetener to my oats.  Sometimes I actually put the flavored tea bag into my cooking oatmeal (tie it to the handle of the pot) which infuses the flavors of the tea while the oatmeal cooks.

What do you like to add to your hot cereal?  Brown sugar?  Peanut Butter?  Bananas?

Exercise for Monday morning

Monday is a tough day to get out of bed after being a slug all weekend. Actually, I was wide awake at 3 AM but when my alarm went off, I stayed in bed for another 15 minutes.  That forced a fast and furious workout.  I never got in my long run over the weekend.  Sunday I did manage a scant 3 miles before meeting up with Ted and Shane for our walk.  Total of 5.14 miles.

Today’s workout went like this:

Warm up doing a 5K on the T/M.  Weights for 25 minutes (chest and biceps).  Running outside with Shane for 3.29 miles.  It wasn’t a painful workout.  Just a quick, constant movement workout.  It just felt good. That’s what counts, right?
