We had a great time Friday night. Ted chose the venue and that was Yesterday’s Royal in Sylvan Beach. BUT….it gets REALLY good because Rocko called us, who we haven’t seen in months, and he and Jackie were wondering what we were up to. Our evening ended up with the four of us going to Sylvan Beach, dining at Yesterday’s Royal outside (dining outside is really a unique experience here in Upstate New York), taking a walk along the beach front, and finally doing some dancing back at Y.R.  Fun!

DSCN1589The restaurant is certainly not a gourmet food facility. It is basically anything you want at a reasonable price while maintaining your camping vacation experience.  Follow along in pictures…

Instead of bread, we were offered poppyseed muffins. Jackie said they should have been dessert they were that sweet.

Since I didn’t indulge in a sweet muffin, I asked for bread. The waitress was kind to accomodate, however the bread was white sandwich bread slices. Dah!

Next up was the salad. I’m not offering a photo because it was a mass of iceberg lettuce with a tomato…and very little else.  Oh..there were about 10 croutons!
Seafood Fra Diavolo...Yesterday's Royal style. Not bad..as you can see, it was very RED saucy!
My dinner was the Seafood Fra Diavolo Yesterday’s Royal Style. Red with so much sauce. There were veggies in there somewhere.
Dinner wasn’t bad and if I sound a bit negative in my review, really, I don’t mean to be. It was good for a camper’s retreat.   If you are wondering about Ted’s dish, he had chicken riggies and complained with every bite how spicy hot it was. Oh well… we had a GREAT time!
Saturday:
Shane and I ran over 6 miles today. Not a bad morning at all. We decorated (well..I decorated….) Ted’s birthday cake, went to Clinton Salad days (below), picked up a dozen bottles of wine to replenish our stock, stopped in a camera store to enjoy some conversation about how to take photos, and finally grocery shopped.   As for this evening, we are having a BBQ for Ted’s birthday with family members. Of course it has been rained out so we will most likely be inside but still… the celebration will go on.
What about those Salad Days?  The Kirkland Art Center at Park Row in Clinton, NY celebrated its fifth annual Salad Days today, July 11. The fundraiser is to promote the Center.  They offered a complete salad lunch with all sorts of different salads and desserts.  But what did I REALLY go for?   They had a sale of hand-made bowls, mugs, and other ceramics from local potters.  They were gorgeous.  For the cost of one bowl, lunch was included.  So I chose my bowl, filled it up and continued with my chores.

The bowl I decided on. Why? Because it is a flatter bowl so I can have my oatmeal in it as well as my fruit on the side.

Now it’s off to prepare for Ted’s party.  Have a nice weekend and leave Ted a Happy Birthday wish…please.
