Happy Tuesday!  Actually, Happy FAT Tuesday!  Are you celebrating?   We went to New Orleans a few years ago, just after Mardi Gras.  We had a good time but the weather was a bit windy and cold.  Seems to be our luck, doesn’t it?  So they are getting ready to celebrate in the streets. The festivities begin at 8 AM with the parade.  What a fun place to be.

 How my Fat Tuesday Started…

I  worked 20 minutes on the Elliptical. Ran 1.6 miles on the treadmill. Did a leg workout for 30 minutes and walked with Shane for 3 miles (about 40 minutes).

My leg workout didn’t consist of any heavy weights today. 4 x 20 reps. of presses, extensions, curls, seated calf raises, ball squats against the wall, and crunches.

We had that wonderful fresh pineapple left over from Sat. evening and decided to cut it up on Sunday. You just can not beat the taste of fresh pineapple.   So today, I mixed 1/2 a cup in my oatmeal and my protein shake.  In looking at a comparison of apples, oranges and pineapples, this is how they measure up (all fresh, medium fruit):

Apple:  Cals = 80, prot.=0, carbs=22g, fat,chol,sod. all = 0, fiber=5g

Orange: Cals.=70, pro.=1, carbs=21g, fat, chol,sod. all = 0, fiber = 7g

Pineapple(1/2 cup)= Cals. =38, pro.=.3g, carbs=9.6g,  fat=.3g, chol.&sod=<1, fiber=.9

As you can see, you would have to eat a lot more pineapple to get the fiber of other fruits.  But who can pass up that fresh, sweet taste?  Natural goodness.

Last night, we had a very tasty but simple dinner.  Sauteed Tilapia Fillets in White Wine Reduction. Served with Oven Roasted Herbed Brussel Sprouts and Riesling Butternut Squash.  I created a page for this because it’s a keeper.  It’s listed under “Fishy Ideas” main page.

It’s a busy day ahead. Work this week is what I consider to be fun.  It involves customer contacts and discussions regarding our products use in their assemblies.  It can be so interesting because the industries we are involved with range from Medical, Aerospace, to Food Processing.

Tally Ho and have a great day!
