What a wonderful late afternoon we had today. Ted and I spent our Sunday with Rock and Jackie. We watched Philadelphia beat the Giants (Yippee! –sorry Rock). We looked at some funny, scary, amusing and beautiful pictures of Halloween, Christmas Parties and New Years Eve. We had a table full of football munchies with a wonderful Chilean white wine.

The white wine had a very buttery, not too sweet taste. It had a lingering flavor and was very good.
Pickled Cucumbers
Now I am not a real pickle lover, but I did try a nibble at one of these interesting little beasts. Not bad. The flavor is more subtle than an ordinary pickle. You can still taste the cucumber with out it being overwhelmed by pickling juices.

The menu was:
- Jackies own pickled vegetables.
- Flat bread
- Tabouli (she made herself and it was so refreshing and bursting with flavor)
- Mnaqish biz-Zatar…Seasoned Flat Tart. A crispy flat bread with an assortment of spices such as oregano, thyme….
- Msaaha … Eggplant, potatoes, zucchini, garbanzo bean stew. It was in a tomato like sauce. YUM!
- Mjadra…Lentils with rice. Jackie cooks the lentils until softened. Sautes onions. Purees them and adds rice. She then lets everything cook with the rice. What a tasty dish!
The wine? Ah .. maybe you noticed that it changed from white to red? Right. We brought over the other bottle given to us by Rock and Jackie at Thanksgiving so they could appreciate it as well. A wonderful Lebanese red.
What a great dinner! For me … the football didn’t turn out that bad either. For all the Giants fans I’m surrounded by, sorry, but at least Eli and Payton get to watch the Superbowl together. Have a great night!
