Best Protein You’ve Ever Tasted

“Soft and Delicious. Always moist with a crunchy surprise in every bite.  It’s like two treats in one!”    Once again, I got lucky and received a sample of bpi Sports BEST Protein Bars.  Cookies and Cream flavor and S’Mores.   These 2.3 oz bars pack a whopping 20 grams of protein with ZERO trans fat, 28 grams carbs, 3 grams of sugar.    After an 8 mile run, my longest run since April in Boston, my body screamed for protein.  These bars called my name and I opened the Cookies and Cream flavor.   It didn’t disappoint.  It was just as [...]

Greek Layered Dip and Kushyfoot

Let’s start with food then move onto feet.  An odd progression I know.  In fact, maybe I should start with the foot “thing” and move on to the food that way, while preparing this fantastic dip, your feet will feel great. No. We’ll start with the food. Greek Layered Dip – maybe a lot of ingredients but very easy to put together. 10 oz original flavor hummus 1 1/4 cup Greek Style Thick yogurt, fat free or lite *Strain yogurt first. Simply put in cheese cloth and allow to strain liquid in a colander for about 30 minutes. 1 tsp [...]

Catfish Enchiladas with Creamy Arlo Dofino Havarti

So far, the weather in Boston looks Purrrr-fect! It’s a good thing as well since I’m expecting this year I’ll be out on the course a little bit longer. This morning, I took my foot for a solo run, meaning no Zoey, no Shane. It didn’t feel that great.  When I pushed the pace a little, my calf started feeling funny and my leg went weak.  Now I’m in a conundrum as to which shoes to wear.  A.  Performance running shoe which the podiatrist put inserts in or  B.  More of a shoe which doesn’t have the inserts but has [...]

Recovery and Rudi’s Gluten Free Tortillas are a hit

It’s odd how you can feel great after running 26.2 miles faster than you have ever done before and even the day after, you’re a little sore but still proud of yourself for not hobbling around, limping, moaning, you might even consider going for a run.  It’s even odder, more odd? that the day after that your body feels as if you’ve been rolled and kicked.  Your stomach is crying out for more food but at the same time being picky about what it receives. On this day, you’re pretty darned glad you don’t have to run. Yes, recovery is [...]

Restrain Yourself and Oh SOYJOY!

The stupidity of it all. I go through the day with a pain in my leg yet my mind still struggles to devise a way to run.  As if my leg won’t know.  It’s like trying to disconnect your body from your brain. My first week’s plan for Boston training is a goal of 30 miles total.  I want to go into the training feeling 100% but I’m not sure that leg is going to be 100%.  There’s a knot in it that won’t go away.  I’ll keep stretching and strengthening with no weight then see what happens Monday morning.  [...]
