Oh No Toe and Vanilla Bean Cupcakes

What a great accomplishment.  Ted ran another record distance run for himself:  14 miles.  It wasn’t without a “war wound” The photo is purposely left small since feet are, well UGLY and ones with blisters are even worse.  I can’t offer the recipe to follow if I offer a huge photo of Ted’s massacred feet first.  I stayed with Ted so today’s long run of 20 miles was not too taxing on my body.  We ran to the beach Doesn’t look like Christmas EVE, “EVE” does it?  It was cold when I went out for an initial 5 miles with [...]

Stormy Stops and Fall Flavor Muffins

Everyone is in a panic due to the storm.  Some refer to the wicked weather system as “Frankenstorm”.  How appropriate considering it’s hitting the Northeast during Halloween.  We don’t anticipate too much damage around our home but who knows? There could be a tree that up roots or a creek that over flows.  If we have to vacate, I only hope where we end up welcomes dogs.   My biggest issue with this storm at the moment is that it’s going to put the nix on my outdoor running.  If we lose power, the treadmill will be a no-go as [...]

CNYEats A Taste of Utica Black-Bottom Cupcakes

Cupcakes! Mmmmm!  These are the perfect party cupcakes.  You know how brownies always get eaten up quickly at picnics and parties?  Well these cupcakes are going to disappear just as fast as a moist, chewy, chocolaty brownie. Were we speaking of parties? Oh yeah…. Ted and I went to a beautiful wedding this weekend. The reception was held at the Stanley where there was delicious food catered by Danielle’s, fun music, lots of dancing, and of course the most engaging conversations with friends. Unfortunately Shane and Zoey couldn’t go but they enjoyed the photo shoot. Eat CUPCAKES…. Perfect for parties [...]

Scared, Hot and Running plus Coconut Milk Cocoa Muffins

Being flexible with ones training schedule is one thing but when you get up knowing you could do the workout THEN skip it anyway, there is a sense of guilt that stays with you all day.  What to do?   Train after work.  This week is a pretty easy week since I’m running a half marathon on Sunday in Watkins Glen and taking a mini taper.  I’m not doing weights this week, just runs.  So on Tuesday was a warm up, tempo run for about 5 miles then a cool down. I got up then went back to bed THEN proceeded [...]

Blonde Jokes and Chocolate Blueberry Beer Cupcakes

They weren’t kidding when everyone was warned of flooding.  The sewers were on the attack! Just glad I didn’t have to run past that today.  I had slightly slushy roads for my run today. It was snowing when I set out and the wind was certainly not helpful.  But I pounded out 20 miles. Not saying it was easy but I did it.  I didn’t walk. When I wanted to quit, I kept thinking about those ultra runners who go for 24 to 30 or more HOURS through amazing environments and outrageous temperatures.  Thinking of the pain and discomfort others [...]

New York Cheesecake and Minnie Mouse

The other day, I had to be up early there was so much to do.  Ted ditched us for our usual Sunday walk so Shane and I made it a quick walking/jogging 5 miler around the golf course.  We played with a stick around the cart path at the 7th hole.  It was icy in spots but for the most part, a pretty descent morning for some good exercise.  I dressed too heavy for such warm weather so I worked up a good sweat.  So why was there so much to do?......here it is.... It’s a party for Jillian.  She [...]
