Nothing like a short 2 hour trip to a marathon. It sure beats the 10 hour trip we made a few weeks ago.  My mood has picked up from earlier today. I’m feeling a little more relaxed and have defeated some of those negative thoughts.

make me laugh

The Mohawk Hudson Marathon is a small event offering both a half marathon run and the full marathon distance run.  The expo is held at the Hotel Albany but we were booted out due to construction and given a room at the Hilton Garden Inn a mile and a half down the road.  That’s not a bad thing since when we arrived at Hotel Albany to pick up the packet, the check in line wrapped all around the reception area.  It was packed, confusing, and LOUD.

The expo itself was very small.

There were 3 aisles of tables.  I saw 2 clothing vendors, 1 sneaker store, 1 table with gels and other running fuel, and not much else.  Good thing we got there late since there wasn’t much to occupy us for more than 15 minutes, 5 minutes of which consisted of picking up my packet and getting a parking pass.

In the marathon bag there was directories, maps, post-it notes, a can of Red Bull, coupons, pain relief gel, my bib number and shirt.

I like the shirt.  White with a smattering of color.

Now we’re settled in. Ted is trying out the pool but very carefully since his back hasn’t healed completely yet and I’m relaxing.  My legs and feet don’t feel rested at all after this weeks events.  But I’m here and my state of mind is more neutral than negative.

Looking forward to a good dinner and, hopefully, restful sleep with no weird, disturbing dreams

I was reminded today that sometimes we need to forget about our selves and remember to keep our mind and hearts focused on what’s really important.  Sometimes we DO need a little reminder.
