A favorite frosting for many. Sweet, soft and fluffy, melt in your mouth scrumpdillyitious!
Posted by Chris and found on page 182 of our book A Taste of Utica, this is a recipe for frosting you will use time and time again. Be careful because if it gets too warm, as out in the hot summer heat, it will simply melt away. It’s light and delicious…or rather ScrumpDillyitious!
Makes about 1 3/4 cups to 2 cups
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 3 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
- 2 1/2 cups un-sifted confectioners sugar
- 4 TBS hot water
- 1 tsp. water
In a small bowl, blend the butter and chocolate with an electric mixer. Gradually beat in the sugar alternating with the warm water. Place the bowl in a larger bowl of ice water and beat until fluffy. Beat in the vanilla.
The longer you beat, the lighter the color.
In the ice water and STILL beating…
beat…beat….beat…beat
and finally it’s time to use it. How about putting just a spot on a Black Bottom Cupcake?! Oh but wait! That’s not until next week. Stay tuned…
Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Yummmm! I love fluffy frosting. Sounds so good. 🙂
Looks beautiful! I should try it next time I will be looking for chocolate frosting 🙂

Ok I made this for my little boy Julian. Julian Loves food! And Oreos. I made this recipe for his frosting and instead or bitter chocolate I melted in his favourite chocolate bar, then I put about 10 crushed up Oreos and mixed it in and it was AMAZING! I’ve been seen julien so happy! It tasted nothing like plain buttercream, it was just ohhh soo good! The Oreos made it magical! Xoxo chantellla LOOOOOOOOOOL ROFEL LMFAO
