Vacations can be so exhausting.  We HAD to sleep in until 7 am but never got around to getting to the store yesterday.  In order to fuel the morning exercise, we made do with a few scraps left from home.  We went on a 5 mile easy run around 5th Street and then some.  It was hot.  Ted was sweating bullets and I was hot but not sweating profusely.  My body just doesn’t like to shed a lot of water.  But then again, it started raining for the last mile which was a complete blessing.  The rain felt good on two hot bodies.  Not “H O T!!!!” bodies, just hot bodies.  You know….. Sarcastic smile

We got back to the room, changed into swim suits and did laps in the lap pool.  Swimming has never felt so good. Since the entire pool area was empty, except for us fools, we decided to enjoy the “Lazy River”.    The Lazy River is a 6 to 7 foot wide body of water, 2.9 feet deep, that  winds around water falls which you enjoy while floating in a tube made for two.  We couldn’t give it up and ended up going around 3 times.  So relaxed!  *We also ended up in it again late in the afternoon but then it was competition time. Who could zoom around the quickest. Some little kid kept creating “river jams” by putting in all the tubes and stopping traffic.  Ha Ha…not so funny, especially when you’re trying to whoop your hubby’s butt! Vampire bat

Breakfast was calling so we cleaned up and hopped our ride

The bikes NOT the Mustang Roush.  Bummer!

We rode to Chrissy’s  about a mile from the resort.  Oddly enough, the resort didn’t offer a breakfast place.

Delicious POWER Breakfast of fruit bowls (I had 2), egg whites with vegetables, salsa, and a side of dry rye.

The area was quiet and so pretty, we could have stayed there all morning, but there were groceries to buy.

We only had the bikes, a bag, and a nap sack to get the groceries home.  Strategic shopping was in order.

The necessities were:

Topping the list:  fruits, coffee, beer, and wine.  We know our priorities!

Here’s what we managed to carry home.

3 Clif bars, 4 pkts of Peanut butter, Multi grain sandwich thins, Starbucks coffee (house blend), raisins, organic oatmeal, doz. eggs, f/f 1/2 & 1/2, feta cheese, strawberries, bananas, HUGE Braeburn apples, shampoo, hair spray, and oatmeal soap, Rodney Strong Chardonnay, and finally but not least Blue Moon Summer Honey Wheat beer.

That little lot cost $96.00.  Seriously, that was about $12.00  – $18.00 more than we would have paid in Utica. Just for example, the apples were $2.19 per pound. In Utica, I’ve been buying them for .99 per pound.  Still, we are on vacation and we are going to eat, drink and be merry!  This is how we embarked on that mission, Saturday early afternoon…

We could only chill on our deck for so long before the warmth of the day and the sunshine screamed at us to get back to the pools for more splishin’ and a splashin’.

The Naples City fest is going on during our stay.  There are BBQ’s, music celebrations of Jazz, Blues, Reggae, caricaturists and other artisans lining the streets.

The local players theater had some actors walking the streets

We tried to see a show Saturday night but it was sold out. We have to wait until Wednesday.

In the meantime, we enjoyed the live music and eats along the street.

Beginning Monday, the local shops will be offering sales and specials (LOOK OUT TED! We’re there!).

It’s after 10 pm. No more walking, cycling or swimming today.

Good night.
