Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Pie and GIVEAWAY

by Joanne on May 10, 2010

First things first:  Exercise.  You have to work out if you want to eat the goodies.  Right?!

Monday’s workout: 30 minute Treadmill run with 6 strides after the 30 minutes of 45 seconds to 1 minute each, resting  40 to 50 seconds in between.  Total miles =4.6 at average pace of 8.39.  Weights = chest and arms.  Walk with Shane for 3.3 miles.  He’ll run with me tomorrow.  I think he was really beat after our 9 miler on Saturday so I’m giving him two days off from running.  He’ll hit the road with me Tuesday.

What other way could I possibly tell you about this super GIVEAWAY than to make a mouth watering super-pooper-duper dessert that you are going to want to make yourself?  It’s an

I LOVE REESE’S DAY GIVEAWAY!

Giveaway first, recipe second.

There will be 2 winners and they will each get:

  • Reese’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups
  • Reese’s Big Cup Peanut Butter Cups
  • Reese’s Pieces Candies
  • Reese’s Crispy and Crunchy Bar

Simply leave me a comment letting me know that you have gone or will go to the I LOVE REESE’S  site to vote that MAY 18TH become the official I LOVE REESE’S DAY!   The promotion will end on Wednesday.  Enter a second time by telling me you passed along the GIVEAWAY information to others (doesn’t have to be another blogger, just someone who can leave a comment and go to the Reese’s site).  I just want to know how much you love Reese’s or how much someone in your family loves Reese’s.

The Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Pie

  • 6 packages of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (total of 12 peanut butter cups) – packaging removed
  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese-room temperature
  • 1 ready made graham cracker pie crust or make your own by mixing 1 cup graham cracker crumbs with 2 TBS sugar and 1/4 cup melted butter. Press into a pie pan and bake at 350 F for 10 minutes. Let cool).
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 TBS powdered sugar
  • 2 TBS Dream Whip or other whip cream stabilizer

Put the Reese’s Peanut Butter cups in a double boiler set on medium heat and allow to melt. They don’t have to be totally melted but just enough so you will be able to whip them smooth.

Allow the melted PB cups to cool slightly, then add the cream cheese and whip until smooth.

DSC_4558

Pour into the graham cracker crust and chill at least 2 hours.

DSC_4559

Pour the well chilled heavy cream into a glass bowl. Add the stabilizer and the sugar and whip until stiff peaks form.

Spread on top of the Reeses Peanut butter – cream cheese filling.  Top with Reese’s Pieces or other decoration and enjoy!

There are no claims here, what so ever, as to this being a healthy dessert.  It’s just one of those sweet treats when you feel you’ve been exceptionally good with healthy eating and you deserve a small slice of …. Xanadu.

The dream that came through a million years
That lived on through all the tears, it came to Xanadu
A million lights are dancing and there you are, a shooting star
An everlasting world and you’re here with me, ETERNALLY [chorus]
Now that I’m here, now that you’re near in Xanadu

Does anyone remember the film “Xanadu”?

Wow…that looks amazing. Peanut butter and chocolate are one of my most favorite things in the world. When I splurge on TCBY I get peanut butter cups as the topping treat. SO amazing. I visited the site and even signed the petition!

I voted. When I’m hangry at work and can’t get home fast enough, I go for a reese’s cup – the peanuts have protein so my blood sugar won’t spike then go down

I know that isn’t a “healthy” dessert but from time to time worth a slice, so beautiful and the giveaway too!

Cheers,

Gera
