Bees that buzz
At my elbows and knees —
No sir, I’m not
Fond of these.
But bees that buzz
Near flowers and stem,
Making honey —
I like them.
I sat watching that bee go from flower to flower for 5 minutes trying to get a photo of him. Was he or I the more determined one?
Daily Gym Fix: Thursday was a 30-45-3.3 day. 30 cross train – 45 shoulders, arms, abs – 3.3 mile run/walk with the Shaner. Nothing was sore I was just a bit low on enthusiasm. I didn’t sleep well (worry, worry, worry) then I woke up all depressed and grumpy. Poor Ted and Shane got a real face full of sourness. I didn’t know whether it was due to not refueling correctly after a long run or just the ways and means of life in general.
Thursday night, Ted and I went for our first cycle ride with the Mohawk Valley Bike Club.
It was a 19.9 mile ride that began at the SUNY IT campus at about 5:40pm and we were back in the car at 7:23 pm. Our average speed was about 14 mph or at least that was the target.
What a super group! We have SO much to learn about riding a bike…who knew???!!! The group ride was so well organized as we weaved through heavy traffic intersections and along roads with debris, holes, ROAD KILL… the talk never stopped. “HOLE”! “GRATE!” “CAR BEHIND!” “CAR FRONT” Great ride. Great group. They had Ted and I ride in front so we didn’t get lost behind. This just might become a one to two night event for us.
Of course after the ride, we were hungry. Applebee’s was on the way home. Even though it was only Thursday, we had celebratory refreshments
Ted opted for an appetizer of Wonton Tacos with zesty pulled pork and Asian slaw
For dinner, Ted had Margherita Chicken: Grilled chicken, balsamic glaze, melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses topped with a crisp bruschetta. The garlic mashed potatoes were too creamy and the veggies were over salted and WAY OVER GARLICED!
I had the Cajun Lime Tilapia: grilled Cajun seasoned Tilapia topped with lime juice and black bean, corn salsa. It was served on rice pilaf with OVER GARLICED veggies. We actually requested a side of plain, steamed broccoli which the server was quick to oblige. Great service!
What a great night! We had such fun, not the best food, but plenty of laughs.
For dessert at home….
There is nothing better than a dessert that tastes great, doesn’t send your stomach into major bloatage, AND is good for you. What is it? Light ACAI JUICE.
This was a super tasting juice I found the other day at Peter’s Cornucopia. All the details HERE. YUM!
Have you tried Acai = “Ah-Sigh-EE” juice yet? and did you know it’s a Super Fruit?
Don’t forget the GIVEAWAY. $35.00 towards your choice of really nice bar accessories, wine racks, etc. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE! Winner selected tonight and posted Saturday.

I’ve never tried Acai juice before, sounds interesting!

I liked the Light version. The regular was a bit heavy in consistency but good on flavor.
That group bike ride sounds like a blast! I can’t wait to get back on my bike….
It is so hard to take pictures of bees. Last summer I spend too much time on one little guy because he was loving a certain perfect flower, but wouldn’t sit still!
The last time I went to Applebees, everything tasted way too salty for me, and I agree about the broccoli!

Yep! Applebees does like their salt. Hope it’s not a way to cover up the REAL flavor?!!! 🙁
I am loving the look of that marg. You def earned it!

It was SO COLD! We both got major brain freeze.
You definitely were the more determined … what a beautiful shot! Would make a lovely note card.
And the MV bike group sounds like great fun. Bob and I cannot wait to get out with our bikes. 19.9 mileswould be a bit of a stretch in that amount of time for me…gotta get my legs back. Our first trail ride last year was around 18 but we did stop in the middle. Good for you & Ted that you hooked up w/them – – I like that they watched out for you.
Enjoy the sunshine, looks like a great day!

We made 3 stops with the group. I think only one was on our account. So… why not sign up?!!!! 🙂

It really is so much fun with a group. It gives you a little more confidence as well when riding in traffic.
I have never tried Acai fruit juice!! I find it so difficult to eat out, a lot of times there isn’t much on the menu that fits my diet I usually end up with a really boring salad, but you got something really good from Applebee’s.

I’ve felt that way too so now we make sure we get a feel for the menu before picking a place for dinner.
I am so glad that you like the biking group. It is so much easier to workout with others and I bet you will develop some great friendships too!

Love the little poem . . . I have dreams of having my own beehive someday! I’d love to have our own honey!
Have a great weekend! (oh and the cake you sent to fit and forty something looked yummy and really made it quite well through the mail)

Thanks for your article. It is very unfortunate that over the last years, the travel industry has had to handle terrorism, SARS, tsunamis, bird flu virus, swine flu, and the first ever entire global tough economy. Through it all the industry has really proven to be effective, resilient as well as dynamic, acquiring new solutions to deal with misfortune. There are continually fresh challenges and the opportunity to which the sector must all over again adapt and act in response.
